Highlight: Mining Industry Experience

At Mikve Consulting, we bring grounded, real-world expertise—and nowhere is that clearer than in the mining sector. Pieter’s early executive career included senior roles at International Ferro Metals and Aquarius Platinum, where he gained deep experience in both finance and operations. At International Ferro Metals, he was instrumental in building the company from the ground up, managing its listing on the London Stock Exchange, and overseeing strategic modelling, funding structures, and financial systems.

At Aquarius Platinum, Pieter stepped into full financial leadership and helped lead one of the largest transitions from contractor to owner-operated mining in South Africa. Under his financial and operational guidance, the company became one of the lowest-cost producers, ultimately leading to its acquisition by Sibanye Gold.

His work spanned ERP implementation, capital optimisation, and cost control, equipping him with rare insight into the strategic and operational needs of mining businesses, insight he now brings to clients through Mikve Professional Business Consulting.

Highlight: Agriculture Industry Experience

Pieter’s agricultural experience is both hands-on and deeply strategic, shaped by his leadership roles at Wildeklawer, Africa’s largest producer of onions, carrots, and beetroot. Initially appointed as CFO, he soon took on broader responsibilities – ultimately stepping into a COO-level role overseeing operations, logistics, marketing, and production. He was actively involved in everything from daily production planning and plant efficiencies to raw material optimisation and export strategy, working directly with teams across the entire value chain.

At Wildeklawer, Pieter worked closely with top management to help implement the company’s strategic vision, supporting operational improvements, systems development, and cross-functional collaboration. Over a three-year period, the business achieved a fourfold increase in production, introduced new systems for labour costing, quality control, and efficiency tracking, and expanded into new local and export markets. Managing 134 product SKUs, Pieter gained a deep understanding of the fast-paced, high-precision demands of the agriculture and FMCG space. His ability to help align field-level execution with strategic goals is a key strength he brings to agri-sector and related clients.
